AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

Twin Tides Tattoo uses single-use needles and hospital-grade sterilization.
We ensure sanitary conditions have been met during the application of your tattoo.
A fresh tattoo is an open wound, and should be treated as such.
By following these simple instructions, your healing process should be quick and easy.

  • Leave the initial bandage on for at least 3 hours, but up to 12 hours. If the bandage sticks to your skin when it comes time to remove it, run cool water over it, allowing it to work itself free.

  • Wash the area gently with a mild, fragrance-free, liquid antibacterial soap (such as Dial or Softsoap) and water. Do this with clean hands, making sure to remove all excess ointment, blood, and ink. Gently pat dry with a paper towel. DO NOT SCRUB!

  • Wash your tattoo 2 to 3 times a day. After washing, allow the skin to dry and apply a VERY THIN layer of Aquaphor, A&D Ointment, or Bacitracin. Do this for 3 days. You should use just enough so that it is absorbed into the skin: no more, no less.

  • From the 4th day on: apply a mild, fragrance-free, moisturizing lotion (Lubriderm works well) until the tattoo settles into the skin. This typically takes 3-4 weeks.

  • You should expect to see your tattoo peel, flake, and scab. This is a normal part of the healing process.

  • It is completely normal for your tattoo to itch, but it is imperative that you DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT YOUR TATTOO.

  • NO TANNING, SWIMMING, OR SOAKING for 2 weeks.
